What have you done to spread encouragement and hope today?

Good Tuesday afternoon, Sparklers! Today has been a good day for me. I have some adversity in my life and certainly some struggles - as we all have. Today I sent a letter to a very special Army Sgt that had made a new friend - another Army Sgt - only to lose him to a suicide bomber. His letter spoke of how they shared ideas to keep their soldiers safe, how they missed their families back home, and how this particular Sgt. made a GREAT cup of coffee. He spoke of how his platoon was there to send this man back to his family when they loaded his body on the chopper. He also spoke of the tears he finally shed when he was alone. I speak of this to say how honored I was to send him a letter of encouragement. To let him know that there is someone back home thinking of him - even though we have never met - and praying for his safe return. As a matter of fact, this was my first letter to this man - ever. We may never write or speak again. But I wanted him to know that there are folks that are thinking of him. This is not a testament to war - so, please no political statements - but the story of two human beings, and one needing and one giving encouragement.
I know this is a pretty heavy story to say - we all have our struggles and we all can use a word of encouragement and hope. Have you reached out to your Spark Buddies to let them know you are there for them, and you are sending good thoughts and vibes their way? The smallest gesture may lift someones day and give them the strength to get that workout in, log that meal, or make that good choice. We are a group of people that can be STRONG together. When you think that it won't matter - it probably does. Reach out today and spread a little encouragement to your fellow Sparklers! They may never say it - but they will smile and be thankful you were there.
