Completely OFF the beaten track....

Monday, July 12, 2010

All I can say is 2010 is really throwing a whole lot of BS my way. It is taking its toll because I found myself eating my way through all of last week. I shouldn't complain because there are others that are much worse off then I but it seems to be just one thing after another since the first of the year and it is really wearing on me. This last loss and funeral I went to really took the wind out of my sails and left me pretty empty. I am struggling to keep my head above water with this weight control program and I find myself thinking about throwing the towel in. I am fighting off that negative attitude with all my might though. Just thought I would write you all a little of what is going on with me so you didn't worry about me. Life is just plan kicking my a$$!

I'm sorry that life got really rough there for you. Life got rough for me as well since I have been in touch with you. My mom did pass away on the 19th of June. I'm the opposite of you, I decided to really put the effort in to lose the weight. I'm no good to anyone if I don't get and stay healthy for myself as well as those I love and care about.
Plus the more active I become the more that I can do with those that I love today. I want to treasure every minute I'm given!!
I love you and want to see you get back on the horse with me, and let's restart this ride together???

Oh my dear Ruth, this has been a tough time for you, but look at all the joy you also have experienced. Look right into those babies eyes and tell yourself and them that Grandma is a fighter and Grandma is going to keep stepping up to that plate and not run off the field. Just like baseball, you get another shot at bat. (Don't ask where the baseball metaphors are coming from.....) We all have lousy days and sometimes we have stretches of lousy days. And we emotional eaters will lose our sanity and stuff our faces in those down moments, but we can't give up. We know how important this journey is to us. You used to work the hell out of that ski machine. Why don't you load up some tunes and take out some of your frustration on the slopes. Start over with some small daily eating goals. Whatever you do, don't give up...it CAN'T be an option, we love you too much and you've helped so many of us through our rough patches, we know you have it in you to get through this and come out strong. Pray, laugh, love, nourish your body, mind and heart my friend! We're here for you all the way!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hang in there, sweetie!! You have tons of friends rooting for and supporting you!! Like everybody else seems to have said, take a bit of time and make the healthy choices you can, but never give up!! Relax, learn to breathe again and allow the stress to leave you and stick with the program as best you can, and before you know it, you'll be looking again for says to not only do your program, but be looking for ways to ramp it up!! I know you well enough already to know you are no quitter.
Keep on keepin on, my friend! I'm here for you if you ever feel the need, you know how to reach me.

Hey wonderful Ruth! I could have written this blog myself. I tell you, I ate my way through all my junk recently to the tune of gaining back all but 6 of the pounds I had lost. Just today, I reset my weight ticker to reflect that and I am back at it again. It stinks and I'm ticked about it but darn it, I will do this one way or another and so can you!! You know we're here for you and rooting for you one hundred percent!! Don't beat yourself up, pick yourself up when you can and keep trudging on. Love you! emoticon

Sometimes it's just your turn for the full suckitude of life - and sometimes it seems like everybody else gets to skip a turn, and you get several turns in a row. I'm familiar with that. And I know how appealing the idea of throwing in the healthy towel is. But I know something else, too: when life starts to get a little easier (and you're old enough to know that it will), if you've bailed on the healthy program, you'll be kicking your own a$$. So do yourself a favor and stick with it. You don't have to think hard about it or step it up, just keep on putting one foot in front of the other. You'll be glad you did.

You can get through this! I know it seems like life just keep throwing you punches but you are a strong woman! I know how hard it can be to stay with it when so much keeps getting thrown at you! It can be a huge struggle when life just keeps giving you lemons. If you make the right choices now you will be around to see your grandkids grow up. I know how important they are to you! Also, you're setting a good example for them. We all go through times when we just want to throw in the towel !! Looking back at last year after my sweet little doggy died and I wanted to give up...you gave me such great support. Here is what you told me "Hey girl....what am I hearing?? Giving up now is like giving up on yourself! You are well worth every effort. You have come to far to give up now. I know how tough life has been for you recently and I am so sorry for that. Stress can really screw up your body so I am sure that is part of what is going on. Hang in there if not for yourself for all of us out here cheering for you...ok?? We all have those times when we hit the "wall" and come to a stand still but we have to reconfigure things and give it another go!!! I am with you all the way Cathy!! You can get by this whole thing...I KNOW YOU CAN!!" See, so now it's my turn to return the favor!!! DON'T GIVE UP!! We all care for you and don't want you to give up on yourself!! Maybe you can try journaling everything that is going on. Sometimes writing in a journal or diary can help. I am with you ALL the way Ruth!! You can get through this...I KNOW YOU CAN!! We are all here for you anytime you need us!!

Sometimes life can be challenge after challenge but it's how you react to those challenges that determine where you go in the future. It's not always pretty but there are lessons in them all. Oh yeah, quitting isn't an option. I heard that somewhere before...

Hang in there. I went thru several deaths in the family over past 12 months including one on my birthday. Sometimes its been hard to stay focused and sometimes I haven't. I read somewhere that many people tend to float a while after a loss before things click in again. True in my case. Be good to yourself and make the right choices as often as you can. You'll be back on track.
