Up to 4 mi
Monday, July 12, 2010
On Saturday I was out running. My goal for the day was a 2.5 mi run, but I really wanted to hit 3 mi instead. Turns out it wasn't that hard to hit 3 mi again; looks like I can do that with some consistency now. But I still had enough juice to push on, so I decided to go to 3.25. Then 3.5 was just at the bottom of that hill, might as well take it down, too. Then 3.75 was around the next corner... and if I made it that far, I might as well get 4 under my belt. And sure enough, I hit the 4 mi marker!
For the most part, it felt like I wasn't going much faster than a walking pace, so I'd say I was jogging at maybe 5 mph or so. The important part is that I made it all the way without walking.
I didn't take my timer, so I have no clue how quickly I actually ran it. I think I run better without the distraction of the timer, any way. It gets me too caught up in the time... running a couple/three miles doesn't seem like that far any more, but running for 30 minutes -- or even just 20 -- still sounds so daunting!
