Disappointed.

Monday, July 12, 2010

Last week Thursday I was to begin a 12 week course. Weight loss and nutrition. Two hours before I was to go to my first class, I got a call and my health insurance won't cover the weight loss part of it. The nutrition education would be fine but anything to do with weight loss or management was a no no!

We really have lost all common sense when a heart patient with diabetes that has high sugars and a BMI of 52 can't get cleared for a program like this, that is run at a hospital.

I was having a mini pity party for myself but I decided perhaps this was the way it should be. I would have felt pressure to do good and that can spell disaster for me. I can't take the pressure and end up cracking. Anyway I decided to pick myself up and continue with what I have been doing. Hell, I lost the first 20 lbs without their help. The most important thing is I have Spark! emoticon

I'm with U on the Insurance & Health Care's loss of any Common Sense! Did they not at least offer a Health Coach for U? BlueCross BS of TN, offers services for free. You also should be able to have a free class from your Heart Dr. or Are Community Services. I'd check with your State Team here or possibly the Local Newspaper. I know I post all of the Community Free Classes that happen each month. There's usually one for Heart Patients too.

I worked for an insurance company hon. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. What I would do is to contact the insurance company and squeak up a storm until they indeed did come to their senses.

There are several levels of claims pre-approval. Just because yours got denied by their silly computer doesn't mean it can't be approved higher up.

And yes you do have Spark. I'd still squeak loudly! LOL

    Yay! You go girl!

I can understand your disappointment over this stupidity, but good on you for saying "I'll do it anyway!"

I don't know how health insurance works in the USA. Is it possible to change companies to one with more sense?

    Hugs,

. emoticon I'll join your pity party! I agree that we have lost all common sense. (it ain't so common now is it?) I can't believe that they won't clear you for that! That is simply ridicules. People don't realize that being over weight is a health problem and leads to many more serious health problems. The insurance company would pay less for a person in their life time if they would consider more preventive health care!
