AMC Relay For Life

Wednesday, July 07, 2010

This weekend is our Relay For Life here in town. It is held at our local YMCA and runs from noon Friday to noon Saturday. I stay at the field for the entire 24 hours and usually walk the night time laps. During the day we have a DJ who plays music non-stop to keep you pumped. The music has to stop at 10:00pm so they have games that we play while walking to keep you motivated. I have met some really great people at the relay and hope to meet more this year. I lost my father 8 years ago to cancer and my mother is a double cancer survivor. I want to wear my pedometer and see how high it will go. The last relay I was at I walked for 19 out of 24 hours, see if I can do the same or more this time. The one good thing is that we are suppossed to have rain Friday into Saturday so hopefully it will keep things cool. It has been high 90's low 100's here last couple of days. Will let you all know how I make out.

What a wonderful cause. I don't think there are any of us who haven't been personally touched by this horrible disease. I hope the weather cools down a bit for you - either way, just make sure you stay hydrated and keep us informed, please.

What a great thing indeed. Do hope it rains to cool things down a bit otherwise, do be careful and drink a lot of fluids including those electrolytes. Water just isn't enough I read today. I have to remember this myself.

Let us know how it goes!!
