Birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays... oh my!

So my summer has been PACKED. Between anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, reunions, and holidays... we seem to have something going on every weekend! While it's easy now to stick to my exercise schedule (still at 30 mins resistance / strength training 4 days/wk & 30 mins cardio 5 days/wk) since it's become ingrained as part of my daily routine, and it's easy to cook healthy meals and snacks during the week, every time DH and I go somewhere on the weekends the temptation is too much! I find that I'm losing weight during the week, only to regain it on the weekend. Ugh!

I know that this is completely in my control... and I must admit that I am pigging out much less than I would have a year ago, but I'm still not staying in control. It's one thing to splurge on a meal or two, but a whole weekend? I think the problem mostly lies with our families. most of these events have required that we stay with one set of parents or the other for the weekend. For some reason, our parents think that if they're not feeding us, then they're not taking care of us. Last weekend was a prime example. We left early on Friday because Drew's brother was having a CD release concert at a venue in Richmond. After the show, of course we went to hang out with him at Denny's where everyone pigged out at 3am! I tried to be sensible by splitting a grilled chicken sandwich and side salad with my sis, but couldnt resist picking through some of my hubby's fries. Then we get to my mom's house to celebrate my birthday. I had asked for crab muffins as a birthday present... I figured that I could splurge on that one item for my birthday, but when I got there they had made coconut cream pies (yes, plural), peanut butter brownies, custard cake, and set about mixing up strawberry margaritas and pouring wine all day. Every time I tried to refuse a serving of something, I was told to let loose, it was my birthday. Unfortunately that has happened at the reunion we went to the weekend before that, the graduation party we had the weekend before that... etc. etc.

I can't wait to get back to a normal schedule!

    My summer has been much like that as well, and I am NOT doing well at maintaining my exercise schedule. So good for you for doing that much! Maybe until the craziness dies down, your goal should be to maintain.
