Day 1 : Family Fit Challenge!

Thursday, July 01, 2010

Today is the first day of our July Family Challenge ( see previous blog for the details of our July challenge). I am starting off this month still sick so I am going to have to play catchup next week. So for today all I can do is pushups, crunches and squats and I will be sure to get in my 10 super foods for the day.

Someone wrote me and wanted to know what my Mom was doing for the challenge as they are almost the same age. So here is the details of her workouts for the challenge....

1. Light ST 3 time a week -
Crunches - 50 reps
Planks - 10 reps to failure
Bicep curls with squat - 2 sets of 20 reps
Shoulder press with squat - 2 sets of 20 reps
Dips - 3 sets to failure
Pushups on knees - 10 reps
Supermans - 3 sets to failure

2. Walking/Running - 60 mins of running with short walking intervals 6 days a week. She runs for about 45 mins and walks for 15 mins.

The rest of my Mom's challenge is the same as everyone in the family. My grandmother is excited about the challenge and is now joining in as well. She is 83!! She is the one who was featured a couple of years ago in the Dallas morning news for doing our family marathon relay at the White Rock Marathon. She continues to be an inspiration to us all....she is at the gym right now working out! Amazing!!

Here are the results of my challenge for Day 1 :

Water intake - 128 oz - 64 oz so far but planning on 1.5 gallons as I am sick and I need more
Take vitamins and supplements
Crunches - 150 reps
Pushups Military - 20 reps
Squats - 200
My Super foods for today - 10 servings each day. One serving is a fist full or 1 cup....
1. Oatbran
2. Flaxseeds
3. Blueberries
4. Strawberries
5. Spinach
6. Red Bell pepper
7. Apple
8. Carrots
9. Almonds
10. Black tea
