Well I did it, I walked my first 5k race and did it in decent time. The race began at 7:30am Sunday morning. My daughter did a run/walk, and I and a friend walked. We started the race and all was going well until we got about a half mile out, and my left foot started getting this burning pain in it, I have had this before and it has come and gone, I didn't want to slow down, because my goal was to do 15 minute miles. So I pressed on, and managed to get my first mile done in 15, I couldn't shake off the pain, so I told my friend to go for it, and leave me behind walking a slower pace. Every step was pain full but I pressed on. During the last mile I found myself alone, walking on a trail and then someone came up from behind me, it was a gentle man who was also walking the race. He must have heard the pain in my voice, and continue to walk right beside me,asking me if I was alright. It felt like someone was poking my foot with a hot poker stick. So I explained that I have RA and that my foot was really giving me problems. He walked and talked with me, and I found out that he was the pastor of the Church of Christ church near my daughters house. God put him there with me right at the right time. He walked with me right to the finish line, what a blessing, he kept my mind off the pain Thanks to Pastor Jeff!!!! I finished the race in 57 minutes. I fought the tears back when I was walking, but when finished I found a place to be by myself and let them flow. I wanted so badly to enjoy this race, instead I just got through it. I'm not giving up, I will be doing another one in Aug, at our church camp and in the mean time I'm going to get this foot looked at to see how we can get rid of this pain. I have managed to lower my prednisone down to 7 mg, the doctor wanted me to be down to that by Aug,and I think that's why my foot is giving me problems, but the rest of the joints are fine!!! So now its back to training for the next one, and get this foot looked at, and hope that there is an easy fix for it!
