The Universe said no to ice cream, but I said yes!

Monday, June 28, 2010

We have had an incredible six days. From our DD's call on Tuesday morning that she had to be moved to St. Louis in time to start work on Monday to crawling (almost literally) into bed tonight including unsuccessful attempts to find subs for two yoga classes, packing for 5-6 hours on Thursday, ceremoniously dumping DD's old mattress and box spring into an apartment dumpster to 3/4 filling a 16' truck and succumbing to pizza and beer on Friday. Saturday was the drive to St. Louis and emptying 1/3 of truck's contents. Today was emptying the other 2/3 at 2 different locations and discovering that the treadmill on fit in the garage at the second drop-off site (cousin's home) and moving into 1 room in SIL house where DD will live for 2 months as she works and finishes preparing for the bar exam.
As a thank you to the family helpers her, DD baked a tasty and relatively high calorie Mexican lasagna for dinner. DH has a favorite ice cream place in St. Louis. It has even been featured on the Food Network. It's called Ted Drewes. By 9:00 PM we were all ready for bed. I was just about to change into PJ's when he asks if I want to go get ice cream with him. I decided to go with him and not get anything.
We ended up accidently hitting a curb (dark rainy night, unfamiliar roads) and getting a flat time. Found an abandoned gas station (BP-ironic that) and pulled under their canopy to change the tire. The lug nuts were a real *********** to get off. Finally success, tire on, back in car and I am ready to go back to SIL and sleep. DH says the only worst that could happen would be to go through all that and not have (get this) his favorite treat - a cardinal sin sundae! I must admit I succumbed by this point . Talk about emotional eating...but the smallest size soft serve swirled with fresh raspberries can't have been all that bad!

I agree with VALERIEMAHA, you could not have made a better choice under the circumstances! That is emotional eating with parameters!

    Blessings on your journey! Janet

Prolly 140 calories and under 5 gr. of fat in the soft serve. And then 1/2 cup fresh raspberries has 32 calories and FOUR grams of fiber!!! EXCELLENT done good grrl!!! And after such a woeful experience.

    Blessed be!
