My niece's visit

Saturday, June 26, 2010

Today my 16 year old great-niece Monica is flying in from Seattle, Washington to spend a week with my mom and I. She usually spends 2 weeks every summer with her grandfather (my brother) in Virginia. This year she told her mom she wanted to come here for a week. My mom was so tickled when my niece called to see if it was ok for Monica to come. Yesterday we went grocery shopping so we could get Monica's favorite snack and make sure that there was plenty of food in the house for a 16 year old. Plan on taking her to Gettysburg to walk the battlefield and hopefully there will be some living history encampments that she can check out. Going to spend a day at Hershey Park also, enjoying the rides and the water park.

My brother will be coming up July 4th weekend to pick her up so we will be having a big cookout with the whole clan. Since my brother only comes up 3-4 times a year my mom has to make sure there are plenty of goodies on hand. She has been baking and freezing pies so that there will be enough. My mom feels that if you leave our house hungry it is your own fault, She loves to cook and bake and the more people the better. Will make sure I take plenty of pictures of her visit.

Your mom sounds a whole lot like my grandmother. If we weren't eating she thought we were sick emoticon

I think it's wonderful that your niece wants to come visit. A lot of 16-year-olds couldn't be bothered with us "old fogies". Enjoy every moment with her!
