Changing My Goals...

Thursday, June 24, 2010

So my goals when I first started this program were to workout regularly, drink all my water each day, and aim to lose 50 lbs by 1/1/2011. Seemed doable and realistic for me. But reality has set in. We have traveled twice in about a 5 week period, being gone for almost a week each time, and I keep gaining and losing the same 2 lbs. Slightly frustrating. But today as I was jogging, doing my C25K program, I realized something. So what if I keep gaining and losing the same 2 lbs. I'm making great progress in other areas. First off, I'm still sticking to my C25K program and loving it. By the end of the this jogging week, which will probably be Monday for me, I will be running 25 minutes straight...that's progress. I'm drinking way more water now than I ever have, even if I don't get all 8 cups in every day...that's progress. I'm making better food choices...that's progress. And I can feel a difference in my clothes...that's progress.

I think all too often we let that dreaded scale make or break us and it shouldn't. Of course I want to see my numbers go down, and they will go down if I stick to the program. I have many improvements to make but that doesn't mean I'm not going to celebrate the changes I have already made and we should do the same!

    Great attitude!

Sometimes the body holds onto water and it takes longer to see the scale numbers go down. Keep up your good work and those numbers will decline.

I love that you are using more than your scale to measure your progress!
