Vacation stress: individual expectations and clueless

Thursday, June 24, 2010

Tonight I suffered from a mild case of vacation stress.
This is the part where the teenage son has other plans, but you really really want to spend some together family time, and the dh thinks you are picking on the son, and you blow up because you feel nobody wants to do anything together. My teen also felt the choice in beaches was not to his liking either. I stormed outside and sat by the fish pond to breathe.

Perhaps I just need some sleep and will feel more focused tomorrow.

I wanted to go to the beach tomorrow, but it sounds like storms are expected.
Plan B will be in effect I presume, go to see more family, and to a favorite inexpensive movie place, and save the beach for Friday.

Plan C - get more marble chips, a table, an outdoor fireplace and enjoy the backyard.

On a positive note, I did find a tankini that fits! And it is a size 16, so that is smaller too. I gave dh a brief fashion show. His reaction when I showed him it was 2 pieces "It is a bikini."
me: "well, it is called a tankini."
him: "It IS a bikini, it has 2 pieces."

Boy do I want to go swimming!

As the kids get older, the family time does seem harder to come by...even when you try to plan it out! I can't wait to go on our vacation in July...it will force us to all be together and just focus on us as a family...

Congrats on finding that tankini...hope you got to go swimming!

    As always,
    Stay Strong!!

Keep focused on that swimming. I can't swim anymore because it twists my spine but I am in the water 4 or 5 days a week, Just Hanging! Yes, I go out & pull my legs up & just hang, I use the pools (because of the lack of beaches here (LOL) so I go out to my chin & then let my spine & neck stretch out. It feels SO GOOD. I do it for an hour at a time. Hope you can get some relief in the water. If not physically, mentally.
I remember going thru those teen age son stresses! Just got him where he was a beautiful human being & had a nice family & then he died from cancer. We never know what tomorrow will bring.
