Summer Time Progress

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

It's finally SUMMER! June 21st was the official date. It's my second favorite season of the year. Lots of sunshine and summer thunderstorms which Florida is notoriously known for. I mean almost everyday, like clockwork, the sky turns an electric purple and the most brilliant lightning shows occur. It's as gorgeous as it is dangerous... or at least to me it is. I remember when I was living in New York City, that was the thing I missed the most...the summer thunderstorms...

Anyway I've had some reflections of late that I didn't have last summer...just a single year ago. And that to me calls PROGRESS. :P First things first...

***I feel very in control of my weight loss journey. And as I've entitled my sparkpage, I really, truly do "Feel I Can Do It".***

It's just so simple to me at this moment...you know, AFTER the three month plateau (lol). Rather I'm focused on these past two weeks of losing 7 pounds! I'm still wowed by that. And I must make a note to everyone. That during my plateau, I never gave up. I just kept re-editing my timeline and researching what else I could be doing. And finally I found the mix that works. Oh, and venting! I had to do that too. To all my SP friends... Thx for listening!

But seriously. Moderate your food. Do your exercise. So simple. Plus I feel like this is the right way that will keep me educated on diet and exercise and health, for life, you know? As opposed to getting food from a box for 6 months and then losing the weight and then being left to wonder, what do I do now?

***Other things I've learned along the way...***

*I have to sleep... or everything gets worse. (I'm a 7-hour sleeper-er.Must get my 7 hours!)
*I can eat WHATEVER I want... just in moderation.
*It's okay to not establish an exact "routine"... just do SOMETHING.
*I don't have to "keel over" exercising... just got to get my heart rate to its correct cardio range (me, 130-154).
*Even when I'm bloated, water is my friend... drink it and my body will use it like fuel, 64 oz every day.
*I backslide... it happens. No guilt necessary. Just start over, the very next moment.
*Share the journey... doing it on my own is near impossible.
*Enjoy every new epiphany... and LEARN from it for LIFE.
*This is a numbers game, so track, track, track... or else how will I ever "get" the numbers for success.
*'Slow and steady' is just as powerful as 'fast and furious'... as the final destination remains in reach either way.

I will be successful. WE ALL WILL! It just takes time and dedication. So, I hope my "lessons learned" translate for you as well...

And it's so true: Slow and steady is the name of the game. I don't have a timetable for getting to my goal, just the sure intention of doing it. All the best - Sandi emoticon

I loved the "slow and steady" is just as good as "fast and furious" as the final destination remains the same, line! As a matter of fact, I'm going to put it on my vision board. I'm so glad I read this blog, very inspirational and motivating! emoticon

I grew up in Ft Lauderdale and I knew the afternoon storms like clock work. I remember one day the bus dropped me off late and I had to hurry home b/c I knew the rain was coming, it didn't matter it was bright and sunny and sure enough it only took 2 min for the clouds to get black and it started thundering and lightening like crazy. Anyways, Congrats on 7 pounds in 2 wks!!! emoticon
