Summer Day Camp: Day 4 & 5
Sunday, June 20, 2010
What a week!!! Cub scout summer camp was a blast. This is our group picture from Friday at 4pm... those few of us diehard parents and kids who lasted to the end of the week LOL. Some kids and parents in our two packs left before this or didn't even come the last day. I guess all the muddy hiking wore them out. I think there was 300 kids at summer camp, all separated into small groups of 30 or less cub scouts. Our group split our flag in half so each pack could have a summer camp souvenir.
Day 4 we had a terrific nature hike with the best guide. She was just strict enough and loud enough and definitely knowledgeable.
I don't think pictures can capture the beauty of the surrounding views of trees and lake.
My son did really really well on the bb guns. I was overly proud when he won a Jr Shooters Patch. He loves so many things but so far, besides computers, he hasn't been really good at anything in particular... it was hard for me not to say say "yes!"loudly when he made 3 bullseyes in a row! LOL
Day 5: Fun day... a whole day of water games...
like slip and slide!
and the kids got to push the button to blast off their rockets they made on day 4.
Here is my son proudly showing me his rocket after it blasted off and gently floated back to the ground.
I figured out that we walked a minimum of 3 miles a day. We spent everyday hiking up hills, and we alternated between boating, fishing, and other outdoor sports, many which I had to participate in to help the kids. (Rowing the boat was the tough one!) I had a blast with the kids, and I am looking forward to next years camp.
Thanks for reading about all our adventures this week!
