We are going 24hrs without electricity as an experiment!

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

If this works we are going to make every Wednesday NEW (no electricity wednesday). We are still using the refrigerator and the AC if we need it. We are also allowing the use of anything on batteries (like my lap top) and ipod etc as long as they are already charged, but can't recharge until tomorrow. Our hot water heater and stove are gas so we can still cook food and shower. I think this is really going to be cool. I had to tape the light switches down because I keep hitting the bathroom switch out of habit. I'm hoping to create better family time, decrease our impact on the environment and to become more aware of how much we rely on and take for granted. Well, better go, need to save my lap top battery so I can check my emails tonight. Wish us luck!!

We lost our power in the mid fall once. We had to literally camp for 72 hours. I cooked outside on the grill, kept our food in a cooler on ice outside. I was also pregnant too. I called my husband's little cousin and said I am coming down there for a shower if it was ok. That was the only necessity I could NOT live without - I need my daily shower!!! Good luck, Moni :-)
