Eye opening first day!

Today was my first day of honestly tracking EVERYTHING that I ate. It has always been so easy to skip tracking that cup of soda from the store or the fork-full of food while fixing dinner. Do those calories count if you are not really sitting down and eating anyways?! Well, I needed to face the facts and come to the reality that I had to track everything and to be honest with myself first. Of course, knowing this also meant that I did not eat as much today. I certainly did not want to come face to face with the cold reality of what I have been doing for all these years and see how damaged I am. But I must admit, I ate with better choices today, albeit, at the end of the day, I am still hungry and am at the limit for my numbers. So much for the sherbert dessert I was going to have. I wrote down the last of my dinner meal, was very happy to see that I was just below my limits for all my numbers, when alas, I forgot to write down that I splurged on a Sprite. Curse that 140 Cal. and 38 carbs.! Put me just over my numbers! That little splurge was so not worth the cost. Had I seen or looked at the can first, I never would have had it in the first place.

But triumph today I had. I tracked the entire day, I had 5 servings of Vegs/fruit, 6 servings of water, and I live to do it again another day!

    Thanks all. I am so committed to this, This time! I know the value of tracking, I just don't like doing it. Being held accountable is not something I have ever liked before. Hence, 211 pounds!! But it is time, and Spark makes it so easy. Entering the food, no other numbers. The end of the day charts are great. Really makes me see where to makes changes. I am on my way to day two of a very long journey. emoticon

    That sprite for you - happens to me every day! I think about something I ate/drank and think that it so wasn't worth it. So, I think it's great to track because I think I'd be far worse if I didn't! Congratulations on your first day of tracking!!
