Tools to Improve My Results

Friday, June 11, 2010

I think I mentioned having bought a few products on SparkPeople recently; a set of storage containers, a food prep center with a cutting board, food scale, and measuring bowl; an inflatable balance board, and several DVDs.

I've been using the scale and measuring bowl, which has a partition that is moveable to various fractions of cups up to 2 cups. I haven't used the cutting board very much at all.

I do find that it's been helpful to be quite precise about portion size. I'm getting much more consistent. It's interesting that the distortions I still have are not consistent across all food categories. emoticon

The balance board is deceptively difficult! I was able to use it and had increased the time I could remain upright on it before I experienced the infection that sidelined me recently. I hope to begin using it again soon.

I have been fairly successful at increasing my fruit and vegetable intake, but I'm working toward more consistency.

While I've been recuperating, a friend loaned me her juicer and I've been having fun trying out new "recipes" for juice blends.

Below are a couple of recent fruit additions:

Mmmmm I like both Papaya and Cantaloupe. I have a digital scale and I use it to weigh everything. We have chopping boards in many sizes and also, I have a husband who loves to chop vegetables (Woo Hoo!) I've never tried a balance board, I'm sure it's one of those things that I would have been much better at when younger, but, balance is so important..I'm off to see what it is (and how to use it). I hope your feeling much better.
