Week 1 of Georgia Team June Challenge

Looking back over the week, I didn't do as well as I wanted, but I think I did learn more about myself. I realize that I'm and Emotional Eater as well as a Rationalizing Eater...meaning I can 'rationalize' my eating!

I let stress from a family situation get to me on Wednesday and made some unwise choices. That stress caused a migraine on Thursday, which caused a day out of work. I REFUSE to let that situation get to me like that again. I will be stronger and make better choices and choose other things besides food to help me deal with the stress.

Some things to try:

Deep breathing
Relaxation techniques
Walking away
Taking a 'virtual vacation' in my mind!

So, it's on to week two of my challenge

    YES YOU CAN do this Sonjia!! One more thing to try:

    Before you grab that food, ask yourself this, 'why am I about to eat?'

    Then think about these if they are your answer:

    Truly hungry - then eat!

    Boredom - go do something to occupy yourself.

    Stress - think of what you can do about it. Can you fix it? Then do. If not, then food won't help you either.

    Exotic food in the house? Meaning - is there some sort of treat there you really love and just want to eat because it's there. Okay, maybe you need to have a little bit to get it out of your mind. Then toss it out or put it away from your reach.

    Special occasion - this does not give you an excuse for a 'free for all' binge. You know what you need to do. :)

    Emotions - food is not going to cure anything. If anything, it will make it worse in the long run.

    C'mon Sonjia! Together we CAN!!

    I am a rationalized eater too...I make excuses for my comfort foods. Just never thought about it till reading your blog. My dear friend, you can do this and you will have a much better week in your week 2 of your team challenge! I know this! I know you're ready! :) Hugs!
