In shock

Monday, June 07, 2010

Well, my husband and I got some news yesterday evening. Our 18 year old son who is going into the Navy in July just told us(and had a sonogram) his girlfriend is 4 months pregnant and they are getting married tomorrow. Needless to say we are totally in shock and disappointed in what they have done and how fast they did it. My sons girlfriend asked me if I was mad and all I could tell her was that I'm not going to say anything. I didn't want to say anything at the time because there was so many things going through my head and I didn't want to say something I really didn't want to say. All my husband and I could do was vent to each other on how we were feeling and decided that what's done is done. Good luck to them both and I hope this marriage works out. If anything we get another grandbaby.

Wow! I'd be in shock, too. But it sounds like they are trying to do the right thing for the baby. They're so young, but they'll be growing up real fast, now! Hope it all works out.

Supporting your son, even in the face of what may be a mistake, is the best you can do for him now. He is trying to do the right thing; and that's got to count for something, I think. I wish him happiness and safety as he joins the Navy... and I wish his new wife and child nothing but happiness and gentle health.

Please send your son my thanks for his service to our country.

Wow. Don't you wish we can be as smart as we are now AND be 18 again?? Well, you can't change what is done (literally) but, you can love and support this new baby with all your heart. Best of luck to you.
