I totally agree with DLSMITH9 v there. I suggest that in the beginning you just eat like a caveman would. They would eat mostly fruits and veggies because that's what was easy to eat, they didn;t have any pop so you would drink water, and then you could have meat sparingly (because they had to hunt before they could get it). Eat everything in it's most natural form at first and then as you get used to it and find things that you like you can start combining them into more intricate meals and dishes.

Wow, what a story you have. I'm wishing you the most luck in the world. But you want my advice? Don't go with the South Beach. Just eat healthy and balanced meals. Don't go on a fad diet- your body didn't evolve for thousands of years on the South Beach diet, and you won't be able to keep that up forever. If you start on the South Beach, you will eventually stop, and then guess what? You will regain the weight because you won't have learned healthy eating habits.
Water vs. diet pop is a fantastic change though!!
