We all need to reevaluate from time to time...

Wednesday, June 02, 2010

I keep gaining and losing the same 5 pounds lately, and at first I couldn't figure out why. My hubby gently pointed out that the last few months have been lots more 'convenience' meals (frozen, easy to prepare dinners) with less fresh fruits and homecooked from scratch meals. Those 'easy' dinners usually have to much sodium, high fructose corn syrups, and too high calories for the serving sizes, etc etc!! Yep. Time to reevaluate my kitchen cupboards. The canned soups need to be donated. No more frozen pizzas. No more boxed mac n cheese.
Back to fresh baked chicken and baked potato wedges and made from scratch soups. Yum! Chili that cooks all day in the crockpot... I miss my friend the crockpot. Always keeping those great meals for my family after a busy day, AND good smells in the kitchen as well!!!

We all need to stop and reevaluate from time to time. I am not worried about summer exercise, I have a plan for that. And now I am going back to my families favorite healthy recipes...

A healthy balance in life is the trickiest thing to maintain, you have to stay vigilant unless you want to drop everything. I have come to far on my journey to do that! Lucky me, I have plenty of support both on and off line that can keep me accountable.

I totally agree, Jennifer! Reevaluating and fine-tuning our programs is so important if we're going to stick with it and not just slowly loose ground until we're back where we came from!

That's awesome your family is behind you as well! Keep on sparking!

You are right about all the hidden things in packaged food. It is a shame, though, because it could be made in a healthier way, especially less sodium! Your baked chicken and potatoes idea makes my mouth water... sounds like you have a solid plan! I'm also glad you have support. The word "gently" in his response to your mentioning your frustration about the bouncing 5 lbs gives me a good feeling that you have someone in your corner who cares that you get what you desire... and he proved it!
