Flax, Oat bran, Wh. wt flour Pita bread YUM! w/pics

Have you seen the Pita Bread by Joseph's. I bought it at Wal mart back in the deli department. 6 pita breads were $2.08.

Flax, Oat Bran and Whole Wheat Flour was what caught my eye. No Trans Fat, and reduced carb. No cholesterol and high protein was also on the front of the pkg.
60 cals, 2 f, 8 carb but 4 fiber so only 4 net carbs, sug 0, protein 6

Today I had this:

It was one of the pitas with top cut off just to make the pocket. 2 ozs chicken that had been grilled yesterday, 1 tb refried beans, tomato, lettuce and red onion.

See my food tracker to see amounts on veggies I used.
Total calories was 144, Fat 3, Carbs 12, Prot 9, Fiber 5 and total sodium was 360.

It was delicious~ and I am full! I drank water wish fresh lemon in it.

Maybe these are something you want to try. Having flax helps with getting some Omega 3.
Thanks for reading!

What a satisfying lunch and so few calories! I shall steal that idea and buy me some of those pitas if our Walmart carries them!

I bought those for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I split mine in half, cut them into triangles, sprayed with butter and sprinkled cinnamon and Splenda on them. Ate them like chips. They are very good! Love your food blog!

I've seen those in Walmart before & thought about trying them but haven't bought them yet. Since you give them a thumbs up I'll be sure to give them a try. emoticon

Wow, I've not seen those. They look great! And your sandwich looks yummy. My newest sandwich craze is the 100% whole wheat Arnold's sandwich thins, toasted, with some lean protein, and stacked high with veggies. I can get these reduced at a local discount store and if I freeze them right away, am none the wiser for the price. Thanks for sharing your healthy food ideas.

I grind flax seed into my smoothies or to put on my oatmeal. I eat either some flax seed or some healthy nuts (almonds or walnuts) every day - but not both in the same day :-)
