I came down with a chest infection last week that really knocked me down. I started feeling unwell on Monday. Tuesday I felt worse. No way I could feel worse than I did that day.

Or so I thought.

Come Wednesday morning I was feeling even worse and took myself down to see the GP. I had a bad viral chest infection, the latest going round. But in many of his patients, it was developing into a secondary bacterial pneumonia and I was heading that direction. I was sent home with a prescription for an antibiotic and instructions to get lots of rest, drink lots of fluids, and take paracetamol for the fever.

That's pretty much where I've been ever since. Hubby made me get up for dinner and made me eat. When I'm unwell I lose my appetite completely. But even he could see that after sitting up in a chair for an hour I was ready to return to bed.

Yesterday, I ventured down for 2 hours. Today, I've been up for 3 so far.

I'm feeling better, mostly. Just need a few more days with rest and gentle movement to fully recover.

On the down side, after being this ill there is no way I can put my body through taking part in a 5km walk. Not this soon. I'm going to have to delay taking part in Cancer UK's Race for Life which I had scheduled for next Saturday. I'll be contacting the people at Race for Life tomorrow to reschedule.

I'm still walking. Just not this week.
