So my single week is not going exactly as planned. Until yesterday, it had been rainy in the evenings. So much so on Tuesday that we delayed sushi until next Tuesday because driving around when there are flash flood warnings is just stupid and unnecessary. I'm going to admit that without a plan dinner that night, I resorted to chips and salsa. Not my finest moment.
Last night, I met a friend for dinner, biking further from home after work to eat and thus having a longer bike ride home on a really pleasant evening. I also had a really good steak sandwich that came with a salad in a small and funky restaurant and bar in a neighborhood that I used to live in but don't get to very much anymore.
This morning, I put the kayak racks on the car before I left for work so that I can hoist the boat up there as soon as I get home. The weekend plans are like this:
Tonight: Cherokee Marsh or the Yahara River
Tomorrow: Sugar River
Sunday morning before I have to do prairie restoration: Lake Wingra
Monday: Yahara River or Cherokee Marsh; whichever one I don't hit tonight
Dinner tonight is going to be salad with grilled shrimp and a bunch of vegetables. I'm thinking southwestern flavors like chili, lime and cumin. It would be nice to find a ripe avocado. I need a plan for tomorrow night. I think that should come together at the farmers' market tomorrow morning.
It's been a really nice week including French press coffee instead of automatic drip, but I imagine I'll also be happy to see my husband when he gets back late Tuesday night.
