If at first you don't succeed...

Thursday, May 27, 2010

then try and try again....

I am surprising myself with having not yet quite given up, despite a procrastinating autumn/winter (I blame the new job) and an equally exercise-free spring (I blame...yes, you guessed it...the job).

Although I have not been on Spark so much, although I have definitively not been looking after the food and the exercise front, surprisingly I have pretty much maintained the weight loss from last summer. Not 100% of course, but still it shows that the habits have sunk in.

In fact I have been feeling grumpy from the lack of exercise, and have been craving fresh fruits and vegetables whenever forced to eat "bad" food (or just not so balanced).

So with my Sparkiversary looming, I am biting the bullet again and (re)embarquing on the weight loss journey because deep down I know it will be worth it, and that it is not even "THAT" hard...Afterall I did lose over 20lbs last year!

Now I have been keeping a small secret from my Spark Friends for the past 3 months...I am getting married in September! So yes, it has a lot to do with my renewed enthusiasm for exercise, but really it is a lifelong choice. I don't want to be a fat bride (yet I will be, because there is NO WAY I can lose the extra weight in 3 months, not in a healthy way anyway) yet I am ok with that provided I have done my very best to look MY best (given the circumstances) on the day.

Will I try to keep within calorie-range? Yes
Will I make time for exercise? You got it...fingers crossed that work requires fewer late nights.
Will I still enjoy some relaxed Sunday brunches with the girls? ABSOLUTELY! I refuse to be miserable for the next 4 months, regardless of how good it would maybe make me look...

It has taken me a while, but I am really truly DONE with being this shape and this weight. I am DONE feeling sorry for myself about having nothing to wear and feeling warm and looking frumpy. I want the energy, I want to fit in my old clothes, I want to have an excuse to buy fantastic new ones, and I want to be able to count my chin with 1 finger :) Most of all I want to look at myself, smile and truly believe that I deserve to be looked after, rather than avoid cameras and mirrors...

I have dusted my My Fitness Coach Wii "game" and I have committed to 4 sessions minimum a week, although 15 min each.

Salad weather is coming, and yummy summer fruits too, and with a good sleeping routine I can go running in the early morning at the weekend.

I am back Spark Friends, and I will succeed, EVEN if that means restarting every year to put another 20lbs under my belt...

Now that's my girl! And that's the attitude. And - wooooooohooooo you are getting married CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am sure that much can be accomplished in three months if only there is the commitment to work-out an hour every day. Anyway, that man of yours should be really happy - he's got a catch for himself!

I'm cheering for you (and for myself). Slowly, I'm recovering from the back pains and getting back on track. I am hoping to get my new sneakers and get out running soon. And finally, the summer seems to be at the door. We will do it.

AAAHHHHH!!! I'm so glad for you getting married. Thats so awesome!! I don't know if you've thought about it, but there are programs out there that are supposed to get you into amazing shape in 3 months or less if you follow them strictly and eat healthy. I'm talking about P90x, Insanity and Chalene Extreme, all of which are found at beachbody.com. Just something to look into! No matter what exercise you do, I'm sure you are going to be a gorgeous bride. Let me know if you are needing support!!
