I don't need the scale...

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

I don't need the scale to tell me that I am gaining weight. In fact, we have had a challenge in our BLC#13 competition this week to stay off the scale. When I get on tomorrow, I am HOPING for a gain emoticon Yes, you heard me right....I am hoping for a gain. I don't want the false security that I feel like I have had over the last few weeks with a loss on the scale. I KNOW I am overeating. I KNOW it is going to catch up with me. I KNOW I need a wake up call.

This is nothing new for me. I talked about this a lot with my spy sisters at the end of last round. I run a big race and then I just sabotage myself. I eat, eat and then eat some more. Now I know what many of you will say....your body is recovering you need food. You are right but I don't need donuts, cake, cookies, soda pop, fast food, etc. I think if I actually gave my body HEALTHY foods emoticon, I probably would be okay with the additional calories but I am not giving my body anything nutritional to refuel itself.

I have done better this time, not from a nutritional standpoint but from a fitness standpoint. I have recovered from my last marathon. I probably feel the best "fitness wise" than I have in a long time. Even my dh has commented about my endurance. I was lying in bed last night and just thought that with the massive calorie burn that I have been creating (almost 5000 last week), I could be at my goal weight right now if I was just eating right. Why do I do this to myself emoticon. Maybe someday I will figure it out but for now, I am just going to stop the bleeding. I know what works for me so I guess, I am back to weekly blogging.

I have been putting this off. I know this weekend will be hard with the holiday but having 1-2 bad days, is going to be better than having 5-6 like I have been doing over the last several weeks.

Hey! Looks like you are doing really well! It's so difficult to get into a healthy routine after a race. I ALWAYS gain weight after races, it seems inevitable. The only thing that stops me, is to start training for something else! haha Great Job!

I feel your pain about the sabatoging - after my great loss yesterday, I promptly went over my calories yesterday and didn't do a dang thing for exercise - grrrr. New day and a good plan for today so here's hoping!

    Your plan looks great!

OMG, Molly, you are not the only one! I have eaten like a PIG since my HM on May 2nd. What is wrong with me? I totally understand when you say you don't need the scale to tell you you've gained weight! Geez, I can just look in the mirror or put on a pair of jeans! My ticker is a LIE!

Let's get each other back on track!

Sounds like a good plan, Molly! I know blogging your plans really helped you last round and kept you accountable! Would it help if I went Jillian Michaels on you and started yelling at you if you didn't do what you said you would do? haha j/k You know I'd never do that! Good luck with the plan though! You can do it!

    Molly,

I'm TOTALLY with you on this. Since my half I've eat more crap than I'd care to admit and on the flip side my exercise has been hit or miss. I decided to give up the scale for May, but maybe it wasn't such a good idea. I do have to say that state of mind is as important as a number on an appliance. Look at the amazing things you've accomplished and put some merit into that as well.

Molly, you so have this! I know just what you mean though. I am fully aware of what I SHOULD be doing, but that doesn't necessarily mean I am doing them. I'll tell you, if we could figure out WHY that is, we'd never have to work again!

I'll tell you, I'm really GLAD that you are allowing yourself to enjoy the holiday. It is so important that we don't deprive ourselves. You CAN do it!

Looks like a great plan for getting back on track! I like how you have planned for your days on the weekend where you will indulge - you can't not live life and enjoy!

Now everyone will see where I got my idea for my blog :)

I know just how you feel. For me too, the scale is an invaluable tool...keeps me honest.

You;re absolutely right, 2-3 off days are better than 5 or 6 off days. We are going to work thru this self sabotaging ( funny, I just posted about this same topic a few minutes before I read this).

I think making a plan is the best course, Im going to have to work on it.
