Bike shorts and hikes

Monday, May 24, 2010

DH and I went for a nice hike yesterday. About 6.6 miles and 2200 feet of elevation gain. It took us about a half hour less than the guidebook said so we were pleased with ourselves. We had a nice lunch on the summit. Had "the best peanut butter and banana sandwich ever!" - I say that every time. Still breaking in my new Keens. So far I like them but Mount Chocorua will be a better test next weekend.

I had to buy some bike shorts. My butt hurts too much to go without them any longer! So I went to the store and tried on several pairs. Was pleased to see that mediums fit easily. I might have even been able to go small but they were all out in the style I liked. The bike shorts are made of a nice compression material that handles the saddle bags well. I feel OK in them. Much better than I thought I would. I was being really silly about the whole thing. Riding will be much more comfortable now. I think I will go for a ride tonight to try them out.

How are the bike shorts working out? I am starting to ride my bike again this week and am thinking I need some gear so I can go for longer rides. I have a great trail by my house and need to throw something in besides just running.

I like the biking skorts that Terry makes because you don't have to see my sausage legs -- although it doesn't sound as if you need them...
