Another drizzly day, then the bad news

Sunday, May 23, 2010

Well, it is another drizzly day, but my friend and I still walked 3.68 miles 7,283 steps. I was feeling pretty good. I did the Spark Wheel and got 10 points. I went to sit on the screened porch to eat my toast and yogurt and looked into my beautiful yard. The BAD deer were here during the night and ate my petunias, my beautiful roses, clematis (it was so full), tops off of my tomato plants and part of my lilies. I am so sad. I had sprayed and the spray does work, but it rained during the night and I guess it got washed off. My husband saw one deer early this a.m. when he first got up and it was in the next door neighbor's yard. It had already been here evidently. emoticon

I'm really sorry the deer ate all they did. That spray had been working for years until now. Maybe it was all the rain you had last night. You're right though, they will get bushy again. emoticon

I have been using one spray that I make for about 3 years and have had very good luck. I just don't know what happened last night. They have NEVER eaten things that way. Everyone always ask me how I keep them away and I tell them. Oh well, that's the breaks....but it makes me very sad. Now I figure the plants just got a trimming and shaped up and will now grow bushier. emoticon Thank all of you for your comments and help.

I have lived with the deer and people around me put all kinds of stuff on there plants to keep the deer away. One remedy is 'Hair' if you get your hair done or know of a salon you could get some hair from then sprinkle it at the base of your plants.. also I think its called blood meal. But unfortunatly rain will make you need to do it all over again, Fences are the best deterant. Some people put fencing materal over ther plants like a dome or half dome against the house.. Or do what lots do and plant to feed the deer and sit back and enjoy the deer and not worry about the plants....lol

You might want to google some holistic/natural things to keep deer away from your house.
    Your house is beautiful btw.
