I received a reply from thee-mail I sent to the race timing company. The company's President responded to me expressing his sincerest apologies and offered to comp my entry fees if I choose to participate in a couple of the runs he personally organizes. One is on July 4th and is a 3-mile or 5-mile trail run. I've never done a trail run before and it's being held a bit far from where I live. The other three events are held the third Saturdays in January, February, and March. Cold weather running is not my cup of tea, but I suppose if I use my inhaler first it might be worth a try.
Hubby and I are going to attempt a run when he gets home from work today before we need to take our daughter to her swimming lesson tonight at 7. I'd like to start increasing our mileage up to 10K following either Hal Higdon or Spark's training plan. Two years ago, hubby and I had done our 5K training runs together. I'd like to continue training at this further distance together, we just have to try to sync up our schedules.
Right now my plan is:
Monday: Cross-train (30-45 min. cardio) & Strength training @ YMCA
Tuesday: 10K training run
Wednesday: Cross-train (30-45 min. cardio) & Strength training @ YMCA
Thursday: 10K training run
Friday: Cardio & Strength at home
Saturday: 10K training run (Long run)
Sunday: Gentle Stretch & Rest Day
I'm hoping that gradually increasing my distance & endurance will help with increasing my speed when I run my shorter distances.
