Best Vacation Ever

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

So, hubby and I generally aren't "vacation" people. We go home, visit friends, go racing, etc. - but in 15 years we have never really taken a "Vacation". Last week was our 15th wedding anniversary and we took a real vacation to a beautiful guest ranch in Ten Sleep Wyoming. It was amazing, incredible, and the best vacation ever. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more. We not only learned to ride horses, we moved cattle, did some team penning with roping steer, and rode in some of the most beautiful mountains you could imagine. On top of all of that, we had amazing food made by a thoughtful and inventive chef at the ranch. Healthy fresh food grown/raised right on the ranch. OK, it really wasn't all "healthy" (especially the pastries and desserts), but much of the food was healthy and the portions were always reasonable. I also had the chance to spend some time cooking with Chef Toby and he has recently lost 40 pounds and is particularly focused on healthy cooking. He gave me some great tips and tricks for adding flavor without adding fat and calories (or sodium).

Anyway, it was an amazing trip (as evidenced by the great photos we took while there) - they are posted here on our website:

We also made some wonderful new friends that we will surely stay in contact with and see again (hopefully soon). It really broke our hearts to come home after such a wonderful escape to a beautiful and relaxing place. We are already planning our next visit.
