My virtual journey to Forks!

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

I'm coming Edward!!! lol I've joined in a virtual walk to Forks, WA with a spark friend. I've been slacking on my updates, because life has been crazy, but I've been logging my miles in my little notebook. So far, I am 57 miles away from home. (I just had a thought. I used to live in Everett, WA for 4 years, who knew I was so close to Edward? Dang!) I'm just getting into downtown Dallas. I can see

I'm excited to start heading a little bit west and should be heading north on 35 tomorrow. I'm enjoying this journey on my gazelle. I've uploaded Twilight onto my ipod and I walk on my gazelle while listening to the audio books. It really does help put me in the mood. I also watch the movies while walking. It's great inspiration. Who wouldn't want to run to Edward? lol

Things have been crazy around here again. I had our puppy neutered last week. It went well. He had been healing nicely, when all of a sudden, he started to stink. I mean, smell bad. It was crazy bad. Turns out, when he was neutered, they put him in a collar that was borderline tight on him. It's not one of those cone collars, but a bite not collar. It's a great idea, but it's lined with foam, and it rubbed him raw, and apparently my doggy is not a complainer. Now, he rubbed his fur off his neck, and he was drooling and getting water in the collar and started growing something icky. Now he's miserable. Dh is shaving his neck and chest so we can treat him with some antifungal stuff. Poor baby is raw. We have obviously taken his collar off entirely, even though he should be wearing it for another 5 days or so. In a way, the whole neck thing has been a blessing, since it's given him something else to pay attention to instead of his surgery site, but he's hurting. I mentioned that the collar seemed small when I picked him up, but they said it was supposed to be that way, and obviously I was right. I have to return the collar for my deposit next Tuesday, and they will be hearing from me. Very irritating. Literally and figuratively.

On the homeschool front, things are going well. DD has made excellent progress the past month or so, and while a lot of kids will be out of school in the next 2 weeks, she continues through the summer. It's so hot here that very few kids are out playing all day long when it's in the triple digits, etc. So, we work a few days a week through the summer. We take off a week here and there, and have long weekends, but she's enjoys having a routine. Dh will be continuing work on his bachelor's degree through the summer as well, so she has a good influence. She's also taken on the challenge of teaching her younger brother (3) his letters and numbers. She's really enjoying the teacher role.

I hope things are going well for my sparker friends. I lost 2 1/2 pounds last week. I have made my way back down the 20 pounds. Very excited after I had that gain after being sick through April. Working hard, and can't wait to drop below 220 in the very near future!

Great to read your blog! I work in Dallas so I know right where you are.

I'll send out an email to the virtual travelers this weekend and get a group update and let everyone know how many miles we've logged as a group. I'm up to 112. I listen to New Moon sometimes when I'm on the bike. It's very motivational.

So glad you are making progress!!!

The walk is a great idea! I'm still trying to fit walking in, but after I get a consistent walk down (which I REALLY need to do with a dog), I might join that.
That's great about the homeschooling with your daughter. I've been thinking about doing that with my son when he gets old enough. I've already taught him all his colors, 1 - 20, and he knows his ABC's from the song, but we're practicing actually knowing them. I've heard it's hard (i don't actually know anyone who does it) but I think I might give it a go.
Keep up the great work and give your pup a big ol hug... and the vets HELL. emoticon
