Another step on the journey

Before I joined SP I had reached my highest weight ever of 200 pounds. I got discouraged and disappointed with myself. So I set out to "LOOSE WEIGHT", well every time I do that it backfires on me. I joined the local YMCA and went after work but that soon became work, but I stuck with it. Then I heard people talking about Wii Fit and how it helped them loose weight. So I decided to try it and bought the Wii and Wii Fit. I did not go overboard with it but tried to exercise at least 4 days a week. It was fun and I had fun and guess what the weight started to come off. Then my neice told me about SP and oh what a difference it has made.

I was 192 pounds when I joined SP. I have had my ups and downs with weight but now there is a difference. That difference is my attitude toward my weight. No longer do I think that I have to "LOOSE WEIGHT", now it is a life style change. I moniter my food and I am honest with what I eat. Amazing what a real portion of chicken breast is huh. What you mean that big mixing bowl of cereal is more than one portion!! I decided to use the tools that SP gives us and it has made a big difference for me. My mom is an awesome baker and I used to love sweets and would gladly eat anything she wanted to bake. Now, I would just as soon get my sweet treat from fruit. So mom is compromising and baking more healthy things. She grows rhubarb so I have gotten recipies from SP for her and they are really good. I am not saying that I turn away all goodies, I just moderate what I have. I am not fixated on the scale either and will usually weigh myself once a month. Yesterday when I weighed myself and I was 178.5 I was tickled. I enjoy my accomplishments and don't get discouraged if I screw up cause I'm only human. I like where my journey is taking me and I am taking my time and stopping to smell the flowers along the way.

Life is too short to always be "monitoring" your food, your weight, etc. Like you said everything in moderation!! You are doing great. Keep up the good work. I bake bread and I eat one slice per day and I won't quit as I enjoy it!

What a great attitude indeed. You're doing great! Life is too short to not live it as well and if you still have your mama and she bakes, on occasion you should indulge. Glad she has agreed to try some more healthy recipes too! You're lucky to have her and she you!
