Plagued with injuries

Monday, May 17, 2010

After two weeks of not running at all, I was feeling really good and I thought I'd try and jog 3 miles Saturday morning. Achilles felt good for about the first mile and then started to feel "funny" (not sore, but just not right). I kept going, just at a little slower pace, and then just after the half-way point, I felt it "pull" and had to stop. I walked the rest of the way home with a sore Achilles wondering what in the world is causing this and will I EVER be able to run again! On top of that, my tennis elbow seems worse than ever! I went out and bought a bike yesterday, thinking I have to do SOMETHING or I'm going to really get depressed! I could kick myself in the **s for getting so out of shape! I had no issues whatsoever, was lifting heavy weights, jogging, and doing high-impact step before my 18-month hiatus! What was I thinking?!!! Now, I'm at a loss of what to do. Maybe I should go see an Orthopedic Specialist and get a professional opinion on how to deal with these injuries! At this point, I'm thinking the 5K at the end of June is out. emoticon

So sorry to hear about your injuries. You probably should get some professional advice as you want these injuries to heal, and heal properly. Maybe the dr. can give some exercises that will help. Hope you get better soon. In the mean time... don't give up or give in, even if you can't exercise - keep making healthy choices, you don't want to undo all your good work. Hang in there. emoticon
