A Wake Up Call in a Couple of Ways

So I knew I wasn't in shape. I haven't exercised regularly since I hurt my hip last October. I've been fine since January, but hadn't gotten back to going to the gym.
It was a perfect weather day. High in the mid 70s. Nice breeze. Sunny. So I knew I wanted to get outside.
I slept late and then dallied around the house not doing anything in particular. Should I take a walk in the woods or garden? That was the question. I bandied it about for a couple of hours. I suddenly realized that this was one of my really bad habits. I can vacillate until the day is over and I had done none of the things I had considered. I'm an expert on vacillating. Too bad it doesn't burn any calories!
So I DECIDED. I would go for a walk in the woods. If I had energy when I got home, I'd do a little gardening. So I drove over to one of the parking lots by the woods and started walking. It is an easy walk on Forbidden Drive where cars have been forbidden since 1899 (hence the name). It is gravel, nicely graded and runs next to the Wissahickon Creek. It is also convenient that there are markers every half mile. I was walking downstream to start which is not my preference as the walk back is uphill. After a mile I was really tired. I had stopped numerous time to take photos and I was exhausted. I had not realized just how out of shape I was. I had originally planned to walk 4 miles. I decided to walk another half mile and see how I was doing. At that point I hadn't had any second wind so I turned around and after stopping a number of times to rest completed 3 miles and collapsed into my car. I got home and took a 2-hour nap. Pathetic!
So tomorrow, I'm going out there again. I will do at least 3 miles, hopefully 4. I will get back into shape. I will pay attention to my habit of vacillating and accomplishing nothing.
Here are some of the photos I took.
