Making the Cut day 29

Day 29 was Wednesday, May 12, 2010.

This one was a long one. It took me 52 minutes, which included 8 minutes (4 two-minute segments) of jump roping. In my case, I do fake jump roping because I don't want to have any sort of disaster where I or some poor soul passing by or some piece of equipment gets caught in the rope. One thing that made this one so long was several "to muscle failure" sets and some exercises having 3 sets within a circuit, so 6 sets total. It was pretty tiring, and I'm feeling it a bit in my shoulders and triceps today, but it shouldn't prevent me from finishing strong on day 30. I rested for a bit after the workout, doing some gentle leg and hip exercises that my physical therapist gave me last year, and I still ended up with enough energy to finish it off with 45 minutes on the elliptical machine.

A woman at the gym remarked to me last night that it looked like I'd lost a lot of weight (it has been about 14 pounds since the beginning of the year, which doesn't seem like a whole lot, but given that I'm 5 feet tall, it does make a difference). What made me feel even better than her saying that she'd noticed I'd lost weight was that she noticed that I'd been working really hard. For me, that's something I can control -- I can be consistent and show a good effort, and the weight loss may or may not happen at a speed I'd like.
