and God was listening

I previously posted about my new life in Victoria. One key thing that I didn't mention is that my new place does not have furniture. That's right - no chairs, sofas, tables, televisions or even beds. We have a couple of dishes and cups, pillows and blankets and whatever clothes we could fit in the car that we drove from California. Basically we are only here for less than 6 months to finish up our degree - so spending a fortune (which we didn't have) to move all our stuff didn't make any sense).
It has been quite humbling to say the least to go from living in a three bedroom townhouse with every comfort to this. On top of getting used to the weather and the high cost of food, coming home to an apartment with no furniture was beginning to wear on us this week.
Monday night during dinner we said our prayers and we asked God for some assistance in getting furniture for our place since our budget is so limited.
On our way to school on Tuesday we found a couch on our neighbors yard with the sign FREE! Then at school, one of our professors witnessed us towing the couch and asked us about it. We informed her that we didn't have any furniture in our place and she gave us 3 chairs she had in her shed. In one day we went from no furniture to a having a sofa and three chairs - God WAS listening.
Just thought I would share that with you all. I know many times we feel alone in this world on our journey through life. For me personally, it has been a long journey to find my faith again and build my relationship with God and it's moments like this that remind me that God is always listening it's just a matter of am I actually paying attention.
