I got a Garmin 305 for Mother's Day - whoo-hoo! I am really excited about it. It is ginormous but the newer, smaller version was more than 100 dollars more and didn't seem to do much more except look better.
This morning I ran with it for the first time. I ran 3.2 miles in a neighborhood behind my hosue, which involves a lot of back and forth because it is a small neighborhood. It is nice to be able to just leave the house and start running, though, and it has both little hills and flat portions. I have measured the distance with the SP maps (which I also LOOOOOVE) but the watch allows me to be able to just run without counting where I have been.
The weather was perfect, so I expected to run 5k significantly faster than I did in my really hot race a couple of weeks ago. Not so much. Turns out I am just, well, slow ;).
But I am not worried about my speed at all. I know that I will run more with lots of good info (distance, pace... I have already had heart rate with my old HRM but this does that, too) that will help me get faster. I am really excited about my new gadget!!
