how long to exercise

I read how some people stay in the gym for hours and hours. Right now, I'm only exercising about 45 minutes a day on the treadmill walking really fast. I'm wondering if that is enough exercising for a begginner or should I do a little more. My first goal is to get down to 200lbs. I'm thinking that I will increase my exercise and add a 20 minutes of strength training to it once I meet my first goal!!

    You dont want to risk injury, so listen to your body and add on gradually. It all depends on what you are doing and how long you've been exercising in the past. Sparkpeople have great fitness articles to help you make an informed decision. emoticon Soror!! All the best to you!!
