TOM recovery - the real impact of menopause

NOTE: This is an older blog entry that I am keeping up here. The reality is I was starting menopause and my TOM hit me extremely hard with long term bleeding, heavy bleeding, and pain which made keeping to an exercise program hard and keeping to eating right or caring about eating right almost impossible.

Erratic and painful periods as well as a trip to the emergency ER two years ago due to a cyst on my tubes really took a lot out of me.

One thing I find very depressing is that there is little info, support or help for us matured-like-wine ladies to get support for our very real health issues.


After going through this week, I've decided that the week my period occurs, I'll be taking off from exercise. If anything gets done it will be gentle stuff like walking the dog or hiking with the horses (which I did yesterday).

After two months of normal, I ended up having this one 9 days early and the cramps have been intense. Generally, I end up laying down for about half a day, but this time around I've been down for two days.

Today will most likely be another recovery day as I am still quite swollen though the cramps have passed and bleeding is over. This is just a heads up to my friends on why I haven't been around or participating much this week.

    I'm so sorry you've been going through so much pain and hassle. How awful, especially knowing that it will happen again every month.

    I'm so sorry you have suffered so much! I used to have pain that paralyzed me for hours at a time so I can imagine how you've been suffering all week - terrible! Really hope you are feeling much better by end of today and can enjoy the weekend.

    Take it easy and don't worry about your work-outs. You'll be back on your feet soon and burning all that stored up energy! Get better! emoticon
