April Retrospective and May Goals

This blog entry is the fourth of a series of monthly recap posts in which I will endeavor to answer the following questions.

- What went well?
- What didn't go well?
- What improvements can be made for next month?

April Goals:
1. Eat 5 fruit/veggie servings a day. Still not there every day.
2. Get back to keeping up with my water.
3. Hit my next weight goal of 175 lbs. and buy my reward (dance pole!).

- What went well?

Not much, it feels like. I'm still failing at a lot of basics.

- What didn't go well?

I met my water goal 24/30 days. Not bad, but not great considering I used to do it EVERY day at the beginning of the year. I had a 75-day streak at one point.

I met my freggie goal of 5+ only 14/30 days. Not even 50%. Many days I only had ONE. I keep saying this, but when I'm done with my job in two weeks, this will be a LOT easier.

I lost 4 lbs., so I was 1 lb. shy of my monthly goal. I thought 5 was very reasonable, so I'm disappointed I didn't make it.

- What improvements can be made for next month?

I've lowered my daily calories from 1500-1850 a day down to 1200-1550 a day. I will stick to this, exercise more consistently, and plan healthy, balanced meals.

Conclusions:
I have lost 24 pounds to date. Not bad I guess. Clothes are fitting a lot better, but I've got a LONG way to go. Working from home, for myself, is going to make a big difference in the amount of time I have to make this work.

In January: 4 inches off waist, 1 inch off hips
In February: 1 inch off waist, 3 inches off each thigh, 1.5 inches off each arm

May Goals:
1. Eat 5 fruit/veggie servings a day.
2. Drink 8 cups of water a day.
3. Lose 5 lbs.

Accomplishments:
Got back on the motorcycle! Bought an automatic one and I've been riding it all over. Feels so good to do this again, but without fear!

    You are doing such a great job!!!! Im feeling the same way with a lot of points you made. Im at 24lbs too!!!! I just feel it should be more for how hard I am working. We are doing this the RIGHT way though and in the end it will all be worth it. You are an inspiration!

    And AHEM, I have a bone to pick missus -- 24/30 days is GREAT. Veggies 14/30 is better than 0/30! 4 pounds lost is better than 4 pounds gained! Everything in your "not-so-great" category belongs in the things well done category. Those are choices you made and accomplishments to be proud of. Look how far you've come! Just because they aren't as good as they were at one time doesn't make those numbers insignificant.

    Looking good! Don't begrudge your accomplishments. Before you probably didn't meet your freggie goal for ONE day nevermind half of the time!
