What's new about you?

Monday, April 26, 2010

I thought it would be fun for each of us this week to write a few things that have definitely changed about ourselves, either from the beginning of the year, or even the past year. Pretend you are a very supportive, interested friend and do a little bragging. (It's really called positive self-talk and I have read that it is quite healthy).

What's new about Chris.
1. Well, she's sporting a new hair color (silver) and a new short cut and she actually likes both. This grandmother has spiked her hair along with her attitude.

2. She's taken up the clarinet after 49 years of being away from it. In two weeks of practice she is ready to foist it on others when musicians gather this coming weekend for a little musical free-for-all.

3. Hey, she's a lot thinner. Lots of friends are noticing it. She thanks Spark People for that, especially her new friends.

4. She's working hard on learning more German by watching German TV. As the pounds roll off, the confidence rolls on.

5. She has gone from a couch potato to a 6 day a week exerciser and has two new pairs of tennis shoes, a sporty yellow visor and some exercise pants to prove it. Her addiction extends to Curves and walking with a new walking partner.

Okay, that's it for me...Now it is your turn!!! What a good way for us to share things about each other. Can't wait to read about YOU!

I've been on medication and in therapy for my depression over the last year and everyone says that it's like night and day. I've been much happier and my relationship with my wife is much better.

My career is finally starting to pick up again after a very tough couple of years.

Congratulations to you on being so awesome!

    What's new about Rebekah...

She is learning to take it easy when she needs too and stay in control of her own actions.

She is learning to balance her roles as mother, worker, and taking time for herself in there as well.

    For me I notice:

    1. I'm getting stronger. I can do certain lower body things up on my arms instead of being on my elbows!

    2. Did a extra set of crunches today too!

    3. My watch is moving around on my wrist!

    4. My family has noticed that I'm not eating as much as I use to!

    5. Sleep like a log!

Those are a few things that I can think of right now!

    Great Blog Chris!

Let's see in the past four months:

I eat a much healthier all the way around.

I have hip and rib bones...you can actually feel them!!

I feel much better about who I am and certainly take more care in my appearance.

I have discovered the job of shopping for clothes!

The joy of making these lifestyle changes with my mom, sister in law and cousin all here on Spark!!

I had hoped to be a become a better role model fior my kids and I am succeeding!! My daughter in a group was given monopoly money to "purchase" items that were the most important if they were stuck on an island. She chose: family, healthy parents/kids, healthy food and fitness to spend her "money" on...WOOT doesn't leave you feeling any better than that!

There are many more but I don't want to take over Chris's wonderful blog!
Hope everyone is having a great week!

Lynn finally decided that losing weight isn't something to do just for a few weeks or months, it is a lifetime commitment which really doesn't have to be that challenging. Over the past year, I have been teaching myself to sew, to draw, have bought some chickens, and is enjoying walking more than she did. She has lost a stone in weight, which makes her feel better about herself, and for the first time in ages, she realizes that deprivation is NOT the name of the game, but rather moderation of everything. Deprivation spells disaster. The summer is coming, and although she hasn't swam in the sea for about 8 years, as her seas are cold, she intends to get in there and enjoy! Good luck to everyone.
