A Good Routine...

I have developed a good routine for healthy meal planning. I enjoy cooking and am always looking for recipes that are low in fat and calories. I use spark recipe search and cooking light magazine to find most new recipes. I have slowly been adding all the recipes I make at home to my spark recipe book. It is very easy to plan the meals for they week using these tools. I use only recipes that are under 500 calories per serving and are quick and easy. I am tired after a long day at work! After I plan the meals out, I make my shopping list, grab my green bags, and head to the store!
My family is benefiting from the healthy meal planning. My son who is 12 has always been a little on the chunky side and he is losing some weight. My twins who are 14 are both very skinny. They do not need to lose weight, but I still want them eating healthy and getting plenty of fruits and vegetables in their diet. I have been having one of the kids help me with dinner each night and using the time to educate them about healthy foods and teaching them each how to cook. They really seem to be enjoying this and it helps me get dinner ready quicker (More time to exercise!). I don't want them to become dependent on fast foods when they leave home!
My husband is a different story, he has become set in his unhealthy ways. He often turns his nose up at my food and heads for MacDonalds. Last night, he made me laugh when we were watching Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution on TV. He says, "we should stop eating so much fast food". I told him where have you been, me and the kids have not eaten at MacDonalds in at least 3 months. Overall, he is supportive and loves the fact that I am losing weight. I will get him converted to healthy living little by little. He won't know what hit him! Thanks for listening.
