Long Run 17... uh I mean 18.63 miles

So my goal was at least 17 miles, but I went a total of 18.63 YEAH!

So the alarm went off at 6:08am. The decision to get up or not was actually a little hard, but I got up anyway.

I put on running gear.
Eat my usual breakfast.
Collect my extra gear (I forgot my mp3 player last weekend, that was an odd 3 hours).
Pack my new homemade granola bars.

Off I go around 7am. It was hotter than it should have been and pretty humid. I took off and tied my jacket after about 15 minutes. I was still in long sleeves and long pants. This was going to be intersting.

I had a new path to run, which was really fun. I thought my speed was pretty good, my attitude was great. It rained on me a little, which was nice. I had a 2.5 mile run before getting to the greenway. That wasn't all that great. I did see three dead oppossums and one dead coon. Eww. Just go by and try not to think about it. Hold breath. There were lots of clouds of little white bugs. I ate many bugs. Just keep going and try not to think about it.

I stopped at a BP Gas Station for my turn around point and had a bathroom break. THANK YOU BP STATION!

Things went well most of the run. With about 4 miles to go I ran out of water. I called up my husband and asked him to meet me at a park entrance with more water. I love that man. He drove over, gave me lots of support and WATER. Then he drove home to wait for me.

That little visit really energized me. My legs (mostly calves) were starting to hurt. They actually would hurt more walking so I stopped walking and just kept slow jogging. But I got more spring to my step.

I knew my path was going to be slightly less than 17 miles so since I was feeling good I added a little on, thus the 18.63 miles. My last longest was 15.22 so a good increase.

Overall status quo, but longer. Oh and if you run by geese its baby geese time so the parents are more hissy than usual. I saw 15 baby geese in three groups. They are really cute.

Certainly one of my best long runs!

Edit, times and such:
4 hours and 12 miles. So 4.4mph. Not bad since I slowed down alot at the end.

    I can't even imagine running 18 miles. Whew!! I am training for a 1/2 marathon in Sept and find that number to be intimidating. Great job!
