Boxing Match with BPPV (Vertigo) Over, and I'm BAAAAACCCCKKKK!!!

Friday, April 23, 2010

A bazillion thanks to all of you for your words yesterday!! It was so nice to read everyone's comments... What a strange day! For 24 hours, I was COMPLETELY incapacitated by a horrible bout of vertigo and could barely sit up to get a drink of water. I decided to call my mom and dad, and when I told them what was going on, my dad said "OH THAT! I have that! Your grandpa had that!" And they emailed me some scanned docs with a couple of head exercises that they assured me would take care of it. I thought, well, what the heck, it won't cost anything to try them out, right? So I did the exercises a couple of times (you have to roll your head around a certain way and keep it in certain positions for a few minutes), and LOW AND BEHOLD the dizziness disappeared!!! Like THAT!!! Then today I went to the ENT doc and he said, yep, you've got BPPV, and you did EXACTLY what you needed to do to get rid of it! It was so simple and quick, it was almost ridiculous!! In any event, all is well today and I'm back on track with diet and exercise! emoticon

Let me pass along this amazing information. Perhaps you or someone else you know suffers from this debilitating dizziness, which is SO easily fixed! I was just absolutely amazed... It's that type of dizziness that comes on suddenly, and you get super dizzy when you lie on one side of your head, or when you tip your head back or down. I'm talking DIZZY DIZZY, like you are spinning out of control. So dizzy you might fall and so dizzy you feel like throwing up. Check this out!! The disorder is called BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) and the head maneuver is called the Epley Maneuver. You start the maneuver facing the way that makes you the dizziest. A real lifesaver!!
