What We Can Learn from Goldilocks!

Thursday, April 22, 2010

I bet you think this is a lecture about not going into other people’s houses when they are off picking berries in the forest. Nope! Although that’s not a nice thing to do, I’m figuring that most of you already have that one down.

So what else did Goldilocks teach us, you ask? Clear and simple, it is moderation. Papa Bear and Mama Bear chairs, beds, plates and with a little imagination, probably their clothes sizes, too, were all JUST TOO BIG. Everything about the baby bear was JUST RIGHT. His cup, his plate, his everything was scaled back and just perfect for our Goldilocks. So remember, baby bear plates and baby bear portions when dishing up your own meals so you can be as trim and fit as our trespassing, house wrecking Goldilocks.

Goldilocks was also assertive (some may say pushy). Like Goldilocks, I think we have to be our own best advocates in restaurants, others' homes, etc., so we can make the right food and exercise choices for ourselves.
I, too, am a small plater. Funny how things like that eye trick can make such a big difference!

Missy MerriKate...you are so right..Goldilocks does teach us to try things out. Good point. And didn't she make a great choice?...the smallest. I had a chance to try out that concept tonight at Fresh Choice. They now print the calories above the foods you can choose and that made dinner so much healthier for me. I took the ones with the least amount of calories and smaller portions.

Rhonda and GAL8DY, thanks for your comments, too.

I love my small plates, too -- tho' sometimes I still heap the contents higher than I should! Goldilocks also shows us how to try things out before deciding which to use, doesn't she?
