Loretta, it happens. Muscle weighs more than fat, and all you are going to do, starving yourself, is burn the wrong kind of energy, make yourself sick, and drive yourself to binge (as you've already seen). It's simple math: burn more than you take in, and you will lose. Make sure you're eating enough during the day (three meals and two snacks, six small meals, whatever floats your boat) to keep your blood sugar relatively constant and keep the hungries away. I am continually amazed at what I didn't know about what I've been eating--for one thing, that I was on the fast track to osteoporosis, because I wasn't consuming enough calcium--because I've spent my life around nutrition issues, coming from a family of diabetics, and now I'm one myself. If you know you're doing what you should be doing, ignore the scale, and pay attention to the wardrobe. I am starting to see cheekbones again, and definition in my midsection, and things I couldn't wear are now comfortable, even though the same number comes up on the scale every day--or more, if I'm retaining water. (I also discovered, thanks to the SPARK nutrition tracker, that I've been consuming more inherent sodium than I was aware of.)

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, CONGRATULATE YOURSELF FOR YOUR SUCCESSES, and one day, you will be pleasantly surprised by the scale, too. If it gets you down to weigh yourself every day, only do it once a week. But the scale isn't the only measure of achievement--so don't make it your be all and end all!
