1st "Flying" Race
Sunday, April 11, 2010
Over the next few weeks I'm going to be doing some "Flying", races that is. Today was the first, the Flying Pig 5k in Fort Collins, Colorado. It was a pretty small race. Just a couple hundred people out to support a local organization. My friends and I decided we needed to honor the name so....
... we all had ears, a tail and we girls had wings. My husband wanted something too (at the last minute) so he was our little piglet with tiny ears, nose and tail on his hat.
We all had really good races with the exception of Joanna who had a GREAT race. She finally beat 30 minutes with a 29:15.
girl! I knew you could do it! I felt pretty strong and did a 46:59. Not too shabby.
I love having friends to do races with. And yes, we tend to get a bit silly, but that's why we are friends. We recognize it's not in winning, it's in doing it and having friends with you.
Me, Betty, Karen, Joanna & John "Flying" with the Pig!
My husband, John upon touch down...
Thank you to Joanna, Betty, Karen & John for sharing my morning and for being silly with me.
Lessen learned - Enjoy life even if you look silly!
