Adding a new goal: become a Goddess.

Wednesday, April 07, 2010

We went to the cinema tonight (14 points spent on treats! Ow! But I deserve a treat every now and then, I think, and I know I'll work it off with another two gym sessions) and we went to see Clash of The Titans. Pointless fun, essentially, but anyway.

I have a Thing for Greece. I love Greek food. (PROPER Greek food. I love kebabs, but I mean PROPER Greek food: dolmades and olives and feta cheese and Greek salad and pita bread and tzatziki and souvlaki and gyros and keftes and just. I like Greek food and it's not often I get to eat it, because finding proper Greek ingredients is HARD.) And I've always had a thing for Greek mythology since I was wee and read books and books and books and books.

So I thought:

I wonder if it's possible to climb Mount Olympus. It is, after all, a real place. It is a real mountain. It is, therefore, CLIMBABLE.

And apparently, yes! It is climbable.

So I figure, when I get fit and healthy enough, I am going to take a holiday to Greece - whether alone or with my sister (my little sister said she'd like to come with me, but by that time, she will be married and possibly have children, so it will be debatable) - and I am going to climb Mount Olympus.

I said to Kat from http://katdoesdiets.blogspot.c
om/ on Twitter (@katdoesdiets), "I'm a bit of a freak and would prefer a trek down to the underworld to meet Hades, but apparently that's not do-able. Alas! ;)"

And it's totally true. If I was able to meet any of the Gods, it'd be Hades. He's always been my favourite, and I'm not entirely certain why.

So yeah. That's going on my long-term goals.

Lose almost 300lbs. Go to Greece. Eat real Greek food, climb Mount Olympus. Become a Goddess.

Hi there, you like Greek Food? You'd love lebanese food too! It's very similar. My failsafe food is Lubia bi zeit, cut green beans, tomato puree, plenty garlic and some olive oil. Apart from the oil there's hardly a calorie in it, so it can be eaten with pitta bread comfortably. I try to have it every week - it's about the only way I can get a loss emoticon (houmous and roast chicken, lamb kebabs etc. take a big chunk out of my calorie allowance!)
If you're interested in the recipe it's on the Sparkpeople recipe site, in my cookbook. There's no photo, but I'll try to remedy that in the near future. http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/reci
