A Big job done..A "cleansing"

Sunday, April 04, 2010

Okay so most folks are entertaining family, having brunch or a big dinner..Me? I decided it was time to tackle my closet. I have one half ( my husband would argue 3/4) of a walk in. Not only were the shelves stacked to tumbling but the hanger rods were jammed. Pieces I have kept include examples of.." in case I get back to that weight", " but I really LIKE that colour", "but I've only worn it twice", and "it was SUCH a good deal" and " it's SO comfortable, so what if its 15 years old". The most encouraging reason for this huge cleanout is my 45lb weight loss!
It took me all day ( started at 10:30, broke at 1:30 for about 45min) then finished at 3:30! Many , many bags of clothing and accessories have been bagged and driven to the donation center! Wow!
What suprised me most was the difficulty I was having throwing the big stuff out. It still had good wear in it ( well, most did). But my daughter said "Mom , why would you keep them? You are doing so well, you seem to have adapted a new way of life and its seems to be just a part of who you are now..why keep reminders? Why do you think you would need these?"...I stopped debating and we "sky hooked" every piece into the bags!!
Now, I guess I gotta go shopping..Just a few key pieces, 'cause I ain't there yet...but just a few to celebrate this "cleansing"

Good for you! That is not an easy project to tackle. I admit I envy you. I have a closet that could certainly use some attention. Definitely reward yourself for both closet cleansing and the awesome weight loss!
