Busy Saturday

Saturday, March 27, 2010

We slept in until 8 this morning and then I got up and made breakfast. My son made us all lunch before he headed to his friend's house for the day.

The sun was shining in the morning but it became windy and overcast. It was warm and in the mid 50's though so it was still nice. After lunch my hubby and I went for a really long walk. We walked in places we usually don't go. We checked out several of the big creeks around here and saw some gigantic raccoon footprints. The coons have been killing a lot of crawdaddies in the area. We also saw 2 turkeys. We ran into Daisy - part yellow lab, Hondo - blue healer, and Baby - chow. We fed them some leftovers we took with us. We found a tennis ball, a baseball, and a nice paiting tool that someone lost. My husband cleaned the latter up and it was good as new. We found a huge hole in the road which we marked as it could be dangeous as it is on a steep hill by our house.

The transplants are doing well in the green house. Everything is up but the impatiens. The lettuce in the garden is also doing well. More bushes are greening up and the daffodils, hyacinths, and grape hyacinths are still in full bloom. The crocus are almost done. The forstythia will be in full bloom soon.

My husband and I make huge grape vine wreaths to hang by my front portch and I decorate them for Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Xmas. Right now I am redoing my spring one as the silk flowers are getting tired. I took all the old flowers off today and am gathering up some flowers to decorate it with. For spring I like pink, purple, blue, and white with some greenery.

Guess what? We saw a wild turkey yesterday, too. IN DOWNTOWN MINNEAPOLIS! And no, he wasn't on the label of a bottle, LOL. My husband spotted it and I was simply amazed that the bird was hanging out between the buildings.

Your day sounds like it was terrific. Here's hoping for a duplicate for your Sunday!

    Hi Morticia,
I can just imagine the walk and you describe it so beautifully. How nice of your son to make you breakfast.

I was so tired after yesterday's effort, I had to take medication for my back, so took it easy today.

I did go for a 15 minute walk to the pharmacy and it was so hot. It is autumn and today we had 29 degrees celsius and the low is 21. Phew, bring on the cold weather.

    Have a great week.

Wow, you have some fun walks! I really miss having a dog and all of the neighbors' dogs are fenced up. We have a mountain lion hanging around the park on the south end of town. I think I'd rather not meet up with it, even if it would be exciting. No bears yet this year so far, but spring is coming!

What a nice day. We, on the other hand, worked hard in our garden. Two strong storms are suppose to hit us, one after another starting tomorrow night, so we wanted to get some plants in the ground (some transferred some new) so they could benefit from the wonderful rain. We also moved some dirt from an area where a tree died and the soil was so rich that I wanted to use it around other plants and move it before it was wet and heavy! Oh, and how can I forget I got new workout shoes today as I had completely worked out my old ones. I found a great pair of a brand I love and they were on sale so I bought two pairs, one for now and the others for when I wear out the new ones. It's night now so I am going to go do 60 min of cardio and then work on a logo design for my DIL's blog on children and families with down syndrome. A great day but not over yet. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sounds like a great place to live. Except for the internet. I wish my husband would walk with me and I'd like a nature trail instead of sidewalks..hehehe
